Game ROM Information- Terminator 2 Profanity ROMs
Note: We stock these, and other custom and unique ROM chips listed on our ROM Chips page. Description: The Terminator 2 "profanity" ROMs consist of a sound ROM, and special game ROM chip. Both are early prototype revisions of the software, and are unofficial versions, not officially released or supported by Williams. Replacing your old ROM chips with these special ones will zero out all audit and game settings information, so be sure to make note of any of these before changing ROMs, if you so desire. The profanity ROM chips have an option in the Game Adjustments menu, in the game's Adjustments mode. The option to enable the profanity is "PROFANITY", and has an "ON/OFF" option. Set this to "ON". The profanity will then be enabled. The profanity consists of the words/phrase "f**k you a**hole", as taken from the original Terminator movie. The profanity is actually an “award” that is given randomly from the Database kickout hole. When you shoot the Database hole (when lit), a random selection of possible awards is shown on the display, and the game picks and awards you one of these awards (game makes a random choice from the random awards). If the game picks the profanity as your Database award, then you will hear Arnold say it, and it will be displayed on the display at the same time in big letters. To light the Database shot, you have to knock down the single drop target under the skull. Only occasionally will the profanity be one of these random awards shown on the display. Just like other random awards from the Database, the profanity only shows up once in a while (randomly). And even when it is displayed, it still may not even be selected as your Database award. The game simply makes a random choice among the awards- it may or may not choose the profanity. If the game picks the profanity as your Database award, then the profanity will be heard, and displayed on the display at the same time. Again, the profanity is only randomly shown as a possible award, and even then, may only randomly be selected, and “awarded”. The award of the profanity appears to be naturally random. Some have been able to get it with as few as 3 shots into the Database, whereas other times it has not been made available for up to 10, 20, or even more shots. Try activating the Database in your game manually a few times to see if it will come up- if so, then you have successfully enabled the Profanity option in the game's settings, and have the correct ROM chips installed. If not, give it some more tries, or see the info below on System Requirements. System Requirements: As the profanity chips are unofficial, unsupported revisions of the software from Williams, not much is known about them, but many T2 owners with the profanity chips have provided the following suggestions for making the profanity feature work. To enable the profanity in your T2 game, the following conditions may have to be met:
Disclaimer, Returns, & Refunds: (Please Read!) Use of the profanity ROM chips in your T2 game is done so at your own risk. We (Action Pinball) are not responsible for failure of the profanity feature to work in your game. While most T2 owners have been able to get the profanity feature to work successfully, there have been a few isolated cases in the last few years (3 total) where the profanity will not work, regardless of the above suggestions. If you are unable to get the profanity feature to work in your game, and have followed the above instructions and suggestions correctly, you may return the chips in original working condition for a partial refund, according to the terms of ROM Chip Returns & Refunds as described on our ROM Chips Page at www.actionpinball.com/roms.php#returns. Note that these profanity ROMs are not public-release software from Williams, but rather experimental custom ROMs that were developed for private use when the game was in it's prototype stage. So they are essentially prototype software. They are custom, or proprietary ROMs that have not be authorized for distribution. Please treat them with as much respect if they are in your posession. |
