Version 3.1 of the MPU board boot EPROM for Stern S.A.M. system games. This chip must be present when updating game code via USB in your machine, and is installed in location U9 on the MPU board. This software revision is necessary to enable the Stern SAM pinball system to read all current types of USB flash drives or thumb drives for game software updates. Follow instructions in Stern Service Bulletin # 164 to update your game code via USB key.
