Used LM323K voltage regulator. Working unit, pulled from used equipment, and cleaned/tested.
NOTE: Due to age/past use, some used working units may put out slightly less voltage than a full 5.0vdc (such as 4.9vdc, 4.8vdc, etc.) This is okay for most equipment, but if you require a full 5.0vdc (or higher), a resistor should be added between the regulator case, and ground, to boost output voltage slightly. Some boards already have a built-in booster resistor in place (such as R50 on older Bally and Stern solid-state pinball driver boards). Other boards may require modification to add a booster resistor. A 1/4-watt resistor of low ohms should be used (such as 2.2-ohm, 10-ohm, or something in between). If more voltage is required, use a slightly higher ohm resistor. Bench-test before installing to avoid unintended damage to equipment.
TO-3 case. Used on most all electronic pinball machines from 1977 on up, for the 5vdc logic power supply. Replaces Bally E-710, Lambda LAS 1405, National LM323K, Fairchild 78H05KC, Stern 25A-LM-323-K, Williams 5250-12634-00 and 5A-9049, 15-50323-001, and others.
HINT: Remember to use some heat sink compound on the back of the regulator when installing, to aid in the transfer of heat away from the regulator, to maintain performance and extend component life.
