Modern solid-state replacement switching voltage regulator that replaces the obsolete and hard-to-find LM323K. TO-3 footprint. Fits and functions just like the original part, but dissipates less heat, and has higher efficiency.
This is also a no-noise regulator, which reduces or eliminates discharge noise that is typically heard through speakers at power-off. Features a built-in trim pot to make fine adjustments to the output voltage.
Rated at 5 volts, 3 amps, 20v maximum input.
Includes 1 regulator, 2 mounting washers, 2 mounting nuts.
NOTES:- Installation:
- Caution: Use care when installing. Instructions are not included. Enlist the help of a qualified helper/technician if in doubt of your own abilities. We are not responsible for damage due to improper installation.
- Hardware: New nuts and washers are included for proper installation. We recommend NOT using the original KEPS nuts that held your old regulator in place, as the star washer built into them may come in contact with some of the surface-mounted components on this new replacement unit, and short it out.
- Bally & Stern Games (1977-1985): Installation on solenoid driver / voltage regulator board in these games requires replacing (or bypassing) the R50 resistor with a jumper wire or zero-ohm resistor, otherwise output voltage will be too high, and exceed board design tolerances. If output voltage is too low after installation and adjustment of on-board trim pot, we suggest installing a resistor at location R50 with very low resistance (10 ohms to start, for example) to bring voltage up (some experimenting with resistor values at this location may be necessary to achieve proper output voltage).
- All Games: Bench-test after installation. This ensures no other boards/components will be damaged if output voltage is too high, and/or if a fault is present from installation. Adjust output voltage using on-board trim pot. If voltage is too low, a resistor may be added between collector (chassis/case) and ground. Some games may require cutting ground trace to achieve this modification. We suggest starting with a low-voltage resistor (10 ohms, for example). Some experimenting with resistor values between collector and ground may be necessary to achieve proper output voltage.
- Pre-Tested: Each unit is tested in our shop for proper operation and adjustment before packaging/shipping.
Replaces Bally E-710, Lambda LAS 1405, National LM323K, Fairchild 78H05KC, Stern 25A-LM-323-K, Williams 5250-12634-00 and 5A-9049, 15-50323-001, and others.
If you have high voltage on both sides of your regulator, have a problem with low 5vdc power, or if your game is intermittently resetting or not starting up, you could have a bad regulator. Replace for a healthy power supply!
