Used green wedge base lamp socket for many Bally/Midway games, approx. 1981 and up (see notes, and game listing below).
Staple-down / vertical mount socket that allows bulb to protrude up through to playfield top side.
Commonly used for general illumination lighting.
Accepts wedge base bulbs such as #555 lamp or equivalent LED.
NOTES: - This lamp socket does not include a diode. Installation in some 6803 CPU games (Eight Ball Champ Aug. 1985 and later) may require the proper addition of a 1N4148 diode for correct lamp operation.
- Due to past use and age, some used sockets may require some slight straightening-out of mounting tabs and/or may have some light oxidation which may require cleaning.
- LED INSTALLATION: For wedge base LEDs, it is recommended that the wire leads on the base of the LED be bent outward slightly in order to make better contact with the terminals inside the lamp socket. Example image (click to enlarge):
