Replacement for C26 capacitor on solenoid/regulator boards in early solid-state Bally and Stern pinballs from approx. 1977-1985.
This capacitor is rated at 150uF 400v, and replaces the obsolete original part #s E-00586-0059 and E-00586-0089 which were rated at 160uF 350v (original cap no longer being made).
This cap is an axial-lead electrolytic, and filters the high-voltage power that runs the score displays. It mounts horizontally at the top of the board, just above the high voltage regulator circuitry in the top left corner.
If your game has weak or wavy display digits, replacing this unit is usually the cure, and allows the game to better filter the power that is supplied to the displays for more steady, reliable operation.
Most larger electrolytic capacitors like this will dry out over the years and as most of these games are well over 40 years old at this point, most original capacitors are long past the point of needing replacement.
NOTES:- This replacement cap is slightly longer than originals: Measures 3-1/8 inches long, 15/16 inches diameter (80mm x 25mm).
- Installation requires bending the end leads slightly under the unit when mounting (soldering) to the board.
- Markings on this capacitor are rather minimal, but like all axial-lead caps, the positive end can be identified by the groove/indent around one end. Other end without the groove is the negative end (see additional image below).
- Cap must be installed correctly with respect to polarity, or damage to your board, game, and/or yourself may occur. Please use care. We are not responsible for problems/damage caused by improper installation.
