- Connectors face same direction when cable laid flat (u-shape).
For most Bally/Williams WPC pinball games (see game listing below). Runs between MPU (J202), Flipper Board (J903), Sound Board (J506 - SEE NOTE BELOW), and Display Controller Board (J601).
Replaces original Bly/Wms part # 5795-13018-00.
NOTE: This cable may not work with the aftermarket Pinsound brand sound board. Unlike original Bally/Williams boards, the Pinsound board has a directional header pin connector which only allows the ribbon cable housing to be installed in one direction. This replacement ribbon cable is manufactured without regard to orientation of the connector housings, as original boards did not require a specific housing orientation. If this cable does not fit into the connector on your Pinsound board, you will have to either remove the offending connector housing and reinstall it 180-degrees, or modify the housing around the connector pins on your Pinsound board to allow the cable housing to fit properly.
NOTE: Twilight Zone manual has this cable, and cable # 5795-10938-14 swapped. This cable has 4 connectors. The 5795-10938-14 cable has 2 connectors.
Common to have to replace this cable when connections in the housings become intermittent from oxidation and/or corrosion from exposure to humidity over long periods (such as on games re-imported from overseas that have been exposed to moisture during shipping from sea water mist). Bad ribbon cable connections can cause erratic game operation- symptoms from no-boot, to flippers/sound cutting out, display issues, sporadic unexplained freak outs, and more. If your game has these symptoms, it may need new ribbon cables.
We strongly recommend using DeOxit anti-oxidant/lubricant compound on the pins that this ribbon cable connects to, to help prevent oxidation and add lubrication that reduces stress on circuit boards when connectors are removed/reseated.
