MALE/FEMALE housings actually LOOK the opposite of their named gender, but MALE housings traditionally take MALE pins, and FEMALE traditionally take FEMALE pins. MALE housings are also referred to as PLUG housings, and FEMALE housings are also referred to as RECEPTACLE housings. Even though they may appear the opposite.
