| Overall view.
| Full playfield view.
| Lower playfield view. All new plastics, flippers, score/instruction cards. Lockdown bar cleaned/polished with new foam rubber seal underneath. Apron (score card holder) is of course original, and in great shape with only a few very small signs of past normal use.
| All new drop targets, rubber rings. New playfield is clearcoated and has been waxed for added protection.
| Center playfield. Posts on either side of center white target have been ugraded to heavy-duty modern sleeve posts. This area gets the most use on this game and original games usually have a lot of damage to the posts in this area. This upgrade helps avoid those problems, and helps preserve the beautiful playfield.
| Upper right playfield. All new bumper parts including protective clear Mylar rings installed around their bases. Full LED conversion, many of which can be seen around the edges here.
| Playfield top. New white nylon cap nuts and stainless steel screws on all new plastics. Many hardware pieces on this game (nuts/screws/washers) have been replaced with brand new pieces.
| Left middle playfield. New drop targets installed. New pin balls installed (including captive ball seen here). Clear plastics on either side of captive ball are original and in excellent condition. These were not replaced, as new reproductions are not as thick and durable as factory originals. The factory pieces will clearly outlast modern repros, so we retained these pieces as used all around the playfield.
| Closeup of center loop (Bonus Accelerator) and center target with upgraded heavy-duty black sleeve posts installed.
| Right playfield. New 'Mystery Ship' drop target installed. All red plastic posts on the playfield are brand new. Wood side rails all restored and repainted in original black.
| Top playfield. All bumpers have been rebuilt with new parts and new reproduction bumper caps. We have upgraded the lamp sockets behind the 4 red standup targets with new units that are screwed-in, rather than stapled in like factory sockets were. This allows them to be easily removed so the red targets can be replaced, if they ever need to be (very difficult/messy to do via original factory design).
| Lower playfield- underside. All 4 flipper assemblies seen here, which have been rebuilt with new parts. All wiring harnessses and lamp sockets were removed, fully cleaned by hand, and reinstalled during the restoration. New reproduction playfield had the underside painted in original correct factory gray (comes as incorrect plain wood from the reproducer).
| Middle playfield- underside. All mechanisms fully reconditioned/rebuilt with new parts where needed. All switches that use them have new capacitors installed.
| Upper playfield- underside. All rollover switch assemblies removed, cleaned by hand, and reinstalled. All new plastic 'spoons' installed on bumper switches. All braided wire for lamp sockets is brand new and stapled in place just like the factory did it.
| Flipper assemblies - close-up.
| Middle playfield underside.
| Upper playfield underside. Note new white plastic 'spoons' for bumper switches, and upgraded screw-in lamp sockets behind the 4 upper red targets which allow for easy removal (originals were stapled in at the factory).
| Cabinet left side. Full professional cabinet repaint in original artwork and colors. We've even reproduced the factory-original silver 'spatter' paint finish over the gray basecoat- something most restorers wouldn't take the time to do.
| Cabinet right side. Legs refinished & repainted in original factory color. New leg bolts, leg bolt plates, levelers, and protector pads. New side rail 'twist' nails. New red flipper buttons.
| Cabinet front. Coin door fully disassembled, all individual parts hand-cleaned, fully rebuilt. New lock and SBA dollar decal installed. Game works on coins, or free play.
| Rear of game. New nylon gliders installed on back of main cabinet and underside of backbox, to replace worn factory metal gliders.
| Underside- main cabinet.
| Backbox left side. 'Beauty ring' around backglass along with all it's hardware, screws, etc. has been fully disassembled and restored, repainted in original semi-gloss black. Hinges removed and cleaned/polished. New stainless steel chrome backglass lift channel installed.
| Backbox right side. New backbox lock installed.
| Inner and outer backglasses for Bally's unique 'Infinity Lighting' backbox on this game are original and in excellent condition. Back of inner glass has some very small nicks in the center which don't penetrate the artwork so aren't visible from the front (see next image).
| Back side of factory-original inner backglass. Some minor small nicks are present on the back of the alien chest but do not penetrate the artwork, so are not visible from the front.
| Coin door interior. Every individual component of the coin door and it's frame were removed during the restoration and cleaned/reconditioned and rebuilt. Door has working coin switches for operation (game can also be run on 'free play'). Fully-working quarter and dollar coin acceptors are installed. Note original yellow manufacturer's certificate that has been retained and re-installed in it's original place at the back of the coin box area.
| Main cabinet interior. Fully cleaned, reconditioned, repainted, and all individual components cleaned and restored. Power supply unit removed and fully rebuilt & upgraded with new heavy-duty parts including new upgraded rectifiers, new fuse clips, new connector pins & backbox connector housing, and new mounting studs and nuts for easy maintenance/removal. New protective metal shield installed over power supply board.
| Detail- power supply. Includes original clear plastic cover over fuses & components, which has been modified to fit around the new heavy-duty rectifiers that were installed. New high voltage warning decal on plastic cover. Instruction cards stapled in main cabinet have been replaced with brand new reproductions as well.
| Detail- tilt mech panel. All components here have been fully restored. All yellow ground straps have been removed, hand-cleaned, and re-installed.
| Front cabinet interior.
| Lockdown bar latch. Fully refinished & restored, including new hardware. Lockdown bar (above) fully reconditioned and has new foam rubber seal strip installed.
| Backbox insert panel. New LED lighting installed. All score displays are brand new modern LED units. Scoring system has been custom-upgraded from original 6-digit to 7-digit scoring for higher scoring (game retains 7-digit high scores).
| Backbox interior. All circuit boards are original to the game with exception of the MPU board which was likely replaced early in the game's life with one from another Space Invaders game with slightly higher serial number. All boards are in excellent condition with no signs of damage or abuse. New custom ROM installed for MPU board to enable 7-digit scoring and optional free play setting. Solenoid/regulator board upgraded with new parts and 2 modifications to allow more reliable operation. Sound board has new capacitor kit installed. All boards have had solder reflowed on backs of connector pins, and anti-oxidant applied to the pins, for added reliability.
| We have painstakingly reproduced all of the settings/adjustments cards in the backbox, and main cabinet. These are all new cards with no stains, tears, or other wear/tear. Nice finishing touch. Factory inspection card on upper right side wall (not seen here) has even had the serial number stamped in correct style/font, and factory employee handwriting reproduced.
| Lamp driver board with LED anti-flicker adapters installed. New remote-mount battery holder installed on backbox bottom panel for MPU board. This keeps the memory in the game when the power is off. Easy to replace with common AA batteries, and includes a cable connector to easily disconnect it in case MPU board needs to be removed. Original, undamaged blue factory wire harness tag is still in place, as are the other tags on other wire harnesses throughout the game.
| Sound board (middle) has had a new capacitor kit installed. We have also custom-built and installed a new, isolated 5-volt power supply (lower right) for the sound board which eliminates the background hum and buzzing that characteristically occurs with score display activity on the Bally games of this era. Sound is now clear and robust with no annoying background noise. We have designed this modification to be easily reversible by simply unplugging the new power supply, and plugging in the old 5-volt supply at the sound board connector (details included with game manual).
| Bally's 'Infinity Lighting' backglass with upgraded 7-digit score displays. We have installed red LEDs around the perimiter of the backglass frame which animate when the game is on (see video below for example).
