Game Warranty Info

Pinball Machines:

Most new and used pinball machines we sell include a warranty. Some do not. Warranty applies to games purchased directly from our shop, to the original purchaser. Warranty is not transferrable.

Details on warranty are below.

Full Warranty - Local Customers:
All terms of our warranty listed below apply to local customers located in our full service area (see map below). We are available for on-site service of games located within our full service area, both during, and after, the warranty period. Games can also be brought in to our shop for service.

Limited Warranty- Out of Town Customers:
Warranty is limited on games sold to out-of-town customers located outside our local service area (see map below). We do not travel outside our local service area to service games, so do not, and can not, provide in-person service outside our area.

IMPORTANT: If you are outside our local service area and need to have a service person in your area come work on your game, our warranty will not cover any costs for such work (parts or labor). This is one of the limitations of buying a game from an out-of-town source, and our out-of-town customers are asked to carefully consider the limitations of service when buying a game from any out-of-town source, and before making their decision to purchase.

Terms of our warranty will be honored for out-of-town customers as long as one of the following conditions can be met:
  1. Game can be transported back to our shop, at customer's expense, for any warranty work to be performed in-shop. Warranty work is performed at our expense (parts/labor). Customer is responsible for transportation of game back to his/her location after warranty work is performed, including proper setup of game. Customer is also responsible for any costs for such transportation and/or game re-assembly and setup. Our warranty does not cover transportation or setup costs on games sold to customers outside our service area.

  2. Any part or assembly of the game requiring service can be properly and safely removed by customer, properly packaged and transported back to our shop, for any warranty work to be performed in-shop. Warranty work is performed at our expense (parts/labor). Customer is responsible for transportation of part(s) back to his/her location after warranty work is performed, including any shipping or transportation costs, and for the proper, safe, and successful re-installation of said part(s) into the game, and any associated costs. We (Action Pinball) are not responsible for damage to, or inoperability of, parts, or entire game, due to improper installation- our warranty does not cover such issues. Our warranty also does not cover shipping or labor costs on parts/service on games sold to customers outside our service area.
These are the limitations to our warranty on games sold to customers outside our local service area.

If neither of the above conditions can be arranged, then we cannot provide any warranty work on the game.

IMPORTANT: All warranted games we sell to out-of-town customers are sold only under the above conditions. Customers are asked to carefully consider the limitations of service when buying a game from any out-of-town source, and before making their decision to purchase. Customers are also strongly advised before making a purchase, to locate a pinball or video game repair person or company in their local area, who can help with any possible "in person" service, should the game ever require it. It's just good common sense.

Pinball Machine Warranty Details:

  • What is covered?
    • Mechanical Parts: 30 Days. Mechanical parts includes playfield and cabinet mechanical parts and switches.
    • Circuit Boards & Displays: 90 Days. Circuit boards includes PC boards located in the backbox, on the playfield, and in the main cabinet.
    • Dot-Matrix Score Displays: 180 Days. Dot-matrix score displays are used on most later-model games.
There are some exceptions and limitations to the covered items listed above, which are not covered under warranty. For details, see the section below titled "What isn't covered under warranty?".

On games that are sold with a warranty, our warranty covers the game in the condition as sold and shipped/delivered from our shop, and applies to the original purchaser of the game only (warranty is not transferrable). Warranty begins the day you take delivery of the game.

Warranty is not retro-active. This means that if you have a problem with your game during the warranty period, but don't let us know about it until after the warranty has expired, it will not be covered under warranty. No exceptions.

  • What isn't covered under warranty? What will void warranty? (Items listed in alphabetical order)

    • Abuse: Overuse or misuse of flippers, buttons, knobs, etc. Overuse is considered "above average" or "beyond normal use" for a game used in a home/non-public environment. Abuse will void game warranty.
    • "Add-Ons", "Mods", and other Custom Parts: Installation (or attempted installation) and/or use of any custom aftermarket "add-ons", "mods", or other similar gadgets/toys that were not installed and shipped with the game from our shop will not be covered under warranty, and will void our warranty. Such add-on items are typically not factory designs and unless installed and warranted by us before you take delivery of the game, we will not warranty these items, or the operation of the game if any of these items are installed/used on the game, or if installation is attempted.
    • Adjustments and Changes to the Game: Game adjustments (changing number of balls per game, free-play/coin-play, or other game settings/adjustments) are not covered under warranty. If you require us to come out on-site to make adjustments to your game in-person, we can do so (within our service area), but our regular hourly service rate will apply to do the work, plus travel time charges to/from location. We can help with some adjustments by phone or e-mail, but not necessarily all adjustments. Refer to your game instruction manual or contact us first if you have any questions about making adjustments to your game.
    • After Warranty Expires: Warranty is not retro-active and will not cover any problems that occur during the warranty period which are not reported until after the warranty expires. Customers are required to report problems to us as soon as they arise, as we cannot and will not cover any problems under warranty if they are reported after the warranty has expired. No exceptions.
    • Cleaning and Maintenance: Game cleaning and periodic maintenance are not covered under warranty. Periodic upkeep of your game is easy to do on your own, and should be performed to maintain the best operational and cosmetic condition, which will help preserve the game and help retain it's value. This is normal for most pinball and arcade games/equipment. Most games we ship include cleaner and/or a maintenance kit. You can do game maintenance yourself, or if you require us to come out on-site to do maintenance in-person, we can do so (within our service area), but our regular hourly service rate will apply to do the work, plus travel time charges to/from your location.
    • Coin Mechanisms: Coin mechanisms and any associated problems with them (adjustments, jammed mechanisms, etc.) are not covered under warranty. Most games we sell include coin mechanisms for "coin play operation" and are tested and ensured fully working before leaving our shop. Due to their delicate nature, problems with coin mechanisms after game has shipped will not be covered under warranty.
    • Commercial, Public, or Non-Home Use: Unless otherwise noted at time of purchase, all games we sell are sold with the expectation that they will be used in a "home" or non-public environment to preserve their condition and limit use. Use/operation of any game purchased directly from our shop and used in a non-home location such as a commercial location, business/working environment, etc., will not be covered under warranty and will void our warranty.
    • Contact Cleaner: Warranty does not cover damage/clean-up from any "contact cleaner" product applied to any game parts. No contact cleaner of any kind should ever be used in a pinball machine or video game and will usually only cause further problems (short-circuits, gummed-up parts, etc.) Use of contact cleaner will void game warranty.
    • Cosmetic Condition: Cosmetic (non-operational) condition of the game (paint finish, scratches, chips, wear & tear, damage, etc.) is not covered under warranty.
    • Costs for Repair/Service: Warranty does not cover any costs for other service/repair persons to perform work on the game, other than ourselves (Action Pinball & Amusement). Work done or attempted by yourself or a third party will void our warranty.
    • Custom Parts: See '"Add-Ons", "Mods", and other Custom Parts"' above.
    • Damage: Any damage that occurs to the game after you have taken delivery will not be covered under warranty. This includes, but is not limted to, normal wear-and-tear from use, damage from moving or relocationg the game, water or moisture damage, damage from extreme temperatures, scratches, chips, dents, scrapes, broken glass, spilled drinks/food, etc.) Such damage may void game warranty.
    • Home Use: See "Commercial, Public, or Non-Home Use" above.
    • Humidity: See "Moisture" below.
    • Light Bulbs & LED's: Light bulbs and LED's are not covered under warranty- they are considered "wear-and-tear parts" and will require replacing from time to time. This is normal for most pinball and arcade games/equipment. You can replace yourself, or if you require us to come out on-site to replace bulbs in-person, we can do so (within our service area), but our regular hourly service rate will apply to do the work, plus travel time charges to/from your location.
    • Locks and Keys: Locks, keys, and any associated problems with them (adjustments, jammed locks, lost or broken keys, etc.) are not covered under warranty. Most games we sell include new locks and keys and are tested and ensured fully working before leaving our shop. Due to their delicate nature, problems with locks and keys after game has shipped will not be covered under warranty. We do have replacement locks and keys available- contact us or see our website for details.
    • Loss of Profits, Other Finances, or Consequential Damages: Warranty does not cover your loss of profits, other finances, or consequential damages/losses in connection with the purchase of any game from Action Pinball & Amusement.
    • Lubrication: Warranty does not cover damage/clean-up from lubrication applied to any game parts (most parts should never be lubricated!) Lubrication of parts after game has left our shop will void the warranty.
    • "Mods": See '"Add-Ons", "Mods", and other Custom Parts"' above.
    • Mositure: Warranty does not cover operation or storage of game in a humid or moist environment (in/around a swimming pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, or in an area where a swamp cooler is used, etc). Exposure to moisture will damage game structural, cosmetic, mechanical, and electronic parts and components, and will void warranty.
    • Moving / Relocating the Game: Any moving/relocating of the game after you have taken delivery and game has been set up, will void warranty, and any resulting problems will not be covered under warranty. Problems commonly arise after games are moved- most are a result of improper handling/movement/jarring during moving, or adjustments to the game after it has been moved, including levelling, etc. Our warranty covers the game as delivered and set-up from our shop, but does not cover any problems that may arise if moved after initial delivery/set-up.
    • Parts: Warranty does not cover cost or replacement of any parts installed/replaced by anyone other than ourselves (Action Pinball & Amusement), or any damage or problems caused by work or parts installed, replaced, or repaired by anyone other than ourselves (Action Pinball & Amusement). Such work and/or parts will void warranty.
    • Repair Costs: See "Costs for Repair/Service" above.
    • Rubber Rings: Rubber rings and bumpers are not covered under warranty- they are considered "wear-and-tear parts" and will require replacing from time to time. This is normal for most pinball and arcade games/equipment. You can replace yourself, or if you require us to come out on-site to replace rubber parts in-person, we can do so (within our service area), but our regular hourly service rate will apply to do the work, plus travel time charges to/from your location.
    • Re-Sale of the Game: Warranty is void if you sell your game to another buyer during the warranty period. Our warranty applies only to games sold directly from our shop, to the original purchaser of the game. It is not transferrable to another buyer/party.
    • Service Costs: See "Costs for Repair/Service" above.
    • Service/Repair Work: Any work done on the game during the warranty period by yourself or a third party (ie: anyone other than ourselves- Action Pinball) will not be covered under warranty and will void our warranty. If your game needs work, contact us first to verify whether or not the work will be covered or will void your warranty. This includes service, repairs, adjustments, addition or removal or any parts, etc.
    • Shipping & Handling of Parts: Warranty does not cover damage to any parts that may need to be shipped to/from your location, whether damaged in shipping, or damaged due to improper handling.
    • Temperatures: Warranty does not cover operation or storage of game in extreme temperatures or non-temperature-controlled environments. Extreme temperatures are considered anything below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and anything above 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Most electronic games will begin to exhibit operational and/or cosmetic problems in extreme temperatures or areas where temperatures fluctuate rapidly or extremely. Warranty will be void if game is exposed to extreme temperatures.
    • Wear and Tear: Wear and tear on game parts and components from use is not covered under warranty. This includes damage/wear on playfield parts (plastics, playfield surface, lights, components, balls, etc) as well as any other wear and tear on the game.
    • Work Done on the Game: Any work done on the game after you have taken delivery will not be covered under warranty unless work is done by ourselves (Action Pinball). If you work on your game or have a third party work in it for you, warranty will be void. Our warranty will not cover any problems or costs involved with such work. If you have a problem with your game or wish to have work done on it, contact us first to see if it will be covered under warranty, or if it will void warranty.

Any warranty work done must be performed by us (Action Pinball & Amusement). Warranty does not cover any parts or labor expenses performed or incurred by you or any other game repair persons. We (Action Pinball & Amusement) are not responsible for costs or work if any work is performed on game by anyone other than ourselves. Any work performed on the game by you or another shop's repair person is your full responsibility, and will void our warranty on the game.

If you experience problems with your game, those problems must be reported to us promptly within the warranty period, in order to be covered under warranty. Problems that are reported to us after the warranty period has expired, will not be covered under warranty, even if they occurred during the warranty period. No exceptions.

If you have any questions on what may or may not be covered under warranty, contact us before making your purchase.

We are available for "in person" or "on location" service on games located within our local, or Full Service Area: (Service Area is subject to change without notice.)

    Video & Other Games:

  • What is covered?
Any warranty on video or other games will vary depending on the game, manufacturer, etc. Some games may not include a warranty. Contact us for warranty details if you are interested in purchasing a video or other game from our shop.

  • What isn't covered under warranty? What will void warranty?
Items listed above in the Pinball Machines section under "What isn't covered under warranty?" also apply to video and other games we sell.

    Service After the Warranty:

We service what we sell, so even after your warranty has expired, we are still available to service your game. We offer a discounted rate on labor when working on games that our customers have purchased directly from us. Contact us if you would like more information.

"How often should I have my game serviced?"

We recommend a general tune-up, service, and inspection once a year, or more frequently if your game gets frequent use.

    Recommended Service Items:
    • Pin Balls: We recommend replacing the pin ball(s) once a year, to keep them smooth and shiny, and to avoid worn/scratched balls which can act as an abrasive to the fragile playfield surface and artwork. See our General Parts & Supplies page for ordering new pin balls.
    • Batteries: Batteries for MPU board (backup memory) in the backbox must be replaced every 2 years to keep them fresh, and to avoid bursting/leakage which can damage expensive circuit boards beyond repair. Batteries should be carefully replaced while the power is on to prevent loss of power to the memory chip, which can wipe out your high scores, settings, adjustments, etc. Contact us if you have any questions or require any assistance.
    • Rubber Rings: Most rubber rings will last approximately 5 years at most, but we recommend replacing them every 2-3 years to keep them fresh and bouncy. This will keep your game playing at it's best. See our Rubber Rings page for a listing of full rubber kits we carry, and individual/spare rubber parts as well.
    • Playfield Cleaning/Polishing & Wax: We recommend general/light cleaning of your game periodically- typically when you start to see ball "tracks"- lines of dirt where the ball frequently rolls. Or generally when you start to notice the playfield and parts becoming dirty from use. We recommend waxing the playfield once a year, and cleaning rubber rings periodically as they start to show dirt. See our General Parts & Supplies page for a listing of cleaners, waxes, and other supplies.
As always, free technical support and assistance are always available to our customers by phone or e-mail, for as long as they own the game. We're always glad to help in any way we can by phone or e-mail, should you ever have a question or a problem with your game. We can also do service in-person if you are located in our Service Area (see map above).

While we encourage our customers to work on and maintain their own games themselves, we don't recommend that you work on or make any changes to your game if you are uncertain about what you are doing. Any damage or problems caused to the game from your own work will void the warranty, and will not be covered under warranty. Even moving the game to another room, up or down stairs, or to another location (building) can cause problems to appear, if you are not careful or certain about what you are doing. Call us anytime if you have any questions about working on, or maintaining your game.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
