Capacitor Kits & Specialty Capacitors:
CAPACITOR TECH TIP:
Most larger electrolytic capacitors are polarized, meaning they have a positive, and a negative lead. These must be installed/connected correctly, otherwise they may short out and blow a fuse or otherwise self-destruct.

Smaller disc capacitors usually have no polarity- they can be installed in either direction.

Before installing, make sure you are certain of the polarity of the capacitor you are installing (if it is polarized), and that it is being installed/connected correctly. Polarized electrolytic capacitors with radial leads (both leads on one end of the cap) will have a stripe, or band, down one side of them indicating the negative lead (a rare few may use a band showing positive lead). Axial electrolytic caps (one lead on each end of the cap) will usually have a "+" mark indicating which end is positive. Markings may occasionally vary from brand to brand. Inspect before installing, and if in doubt, ask.

All electronic repair components we sell are sold with the assumption that you "know what you're doing". We are not responsible for any damage resulting from improper handling/installation. If you are uncomfortable replacing components or have any doubts/questions, we recommend enlisting the help of a professional.
